New Anime and Manga Books Announced

Following the recent publication of the book Anime: A History by Jonathan Clements, three other new books related to anime and manga have been mentioned in a news story in the Japan Times newspaper. British author Helen McCarthy, whose previous books include The Art of Osamu Tezuka and Hayao Miyazaki: Master of Japanese Animation, is linked to a 'revised and updated' version of The Anime Encyclopedia. Separately, the back jacket of Clements' Anime: A History mentions that Clements is involved in the third edition of the Anime Encyclopedia, which will be published in 2014.
Clements and McCarthy co-wrote the two previous editions of the Anime Encyclopedia, which were both published by Stone Bridge Press. The first edition (pictured) was published in 2001, and the second edition was published in 2006.
McCarthy is also said to be writing another book, called A Brief History of Manga.
The news story also mentions that the American writer Susan Napier (author of Anime from Akira to Howl's Moving Castle) is writing a new book about Hayao Miyazaki.
