Site's Selector Infected Wixoss stream will not be available for U.S. users

Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream the Selector Infected Wixoss (stylized as selector infected WIXOSS) anime in various countries and territories outside of Japan and the United States. The site also announced that it will stream the Mushishi: The Next Chapter television anime series in various countries and territories outside of Japan.

Crunchyroll will stream Selector Infected Wixoss in the following countries and territories: France and DOM/TOM, Belgium, Switzerland, Andorra, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Canada, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Bahrain, Cyprus, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Egypt, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Libya, Mauritania, Somalia, and Sudan. Crunchyroll will debut the first episode on Friday at 3:00 p.m. EST, with subsequent episodes debuting on Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. EST.

Crunchyroll will stream Mushishi: The Next Chapter starting on April 4 at 12:00 p.m. EST for users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The tagline of Selector Infected Wixoss is:

Hope, desire, greed.

Girls with each of these feelings in their hearts are being swallowed into the vortex of a dangerous game…

WIXOSS is a hugely popular card game, particularly among middle school children. But few know of LRIG Card, "the card of girls who possess will." Only special girls can hear the voice of LRIG, and those who possess this card are called selectors.

A Girl prayed to fulfill her wish.
Scattered strange gene "wixoss"
all around the world [fused] into one form.
Searching in vain for a fight…
Victory will be the only way for her
wish to [revolutionize].
Now, shall her "Wish Across" be conquered.

Takuya Satō (Steins;Gate, Armitage III, Say, "I Love You"., Strawberry Marshmallow) is directing the anime at J.C. Staff. Mari Okada (anohana, Hana-Saku Iroha, Amazing Twins) is charge of the series scripts, based on an original story by LRIG (Warner Entertainment Japan, Takara Tomy, J.C. Staff). Kyuta Sakai (When They Cry - Higurashi, Steins;Gate, Strawberry Marshmallow) is designing the characters, and Yoshikazu Iwanami is directing the sound. Maiko Iuchi (A Certain Magical Index, Dog Days, Waiting in the Summer) is composing the music, while Kanon Wakeshima (Vampire Knight, To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness, Strike the Blood) is contributing the opening theme song. Kentarō Akiyama (Studio Pablo) is the art director, and Yukiko Itou is the color key artist. Shingo Fukuyo is the director of photography, and Masahiro Gotō (REAL-T) is editing.

The toy and game maker Takara Tomy is launching the WIXOSS (pronounced like "wi-cross") card game in April.

Funimation announced earlier on Wednesday that it will stream the series in the United States.

Mushishi: The Next Chapter (Mushishi: Zoku-Shō) will reunite most of the staff from the first season, led by director and series script supervisor Hiroshi Nagahama. Cast members Yuto Nakano and Mika Doi are also reprising their roles as Ginko and the narrating voice.

Aniplex USA describes the story:

They existed long before anyone can remember. They are simple and strange in nature, not resembling any other plant or animal in this world. In ancient times, people revered these bizarre creatures and called them “Mushi.”

People once again began to believe in the existence of these "Mushi" when they began affecting their lives in inexplicable ways.

The one who connects the world of “Mushi” to the world of humans—they were called the "Mushi-shi." All life exists not to hinder others in this world.

They are simply there to live as they were meant to.

Yuki Urushibara's recent two-chapter special manga spinoff of Mushi-Shi inspired the January television special. Kodansha published the manga in the January and February issues of Afternoon magazine, which shipped on November 25 and December 25, respectively. The anime special aired on January 4 at 11:30 p.m. on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11, and Crunchyroll streamed it into several countries. The new series will premiere in Japan on April 4.

Aniplex of America had announced last month that it would stream the series starting in April.
