Rui Tanabe, Chiaki Takahashi Join Ikki Tousen: Extravaganza Epoch OVA's Cast

Original video anime also starring Yōko Hikasa, Yuiko Tatsumi, more airs in December before February home video release


The December issue of Wani Books' Comic Gum magazine is announcing on Saturday the cast and staff for the upcoming Ikki Tousen: Extravaganza Epoch original video anime (OVA) project.

Joining the cast will be Rui Tanabe as Mitsuyoshi Yagyū, Yōko Hikasa as Benkei Musashibō, Yuiko Tatsumi as Yoshitsune Minamotonokurō, Hideo Ishikawa as Inshun Hōzōin, and Chiaki Takahashi as Himiko.

Returning cast members include:

Chiwa Saito as Shikō Sōjin (Cao Ren)
Hana Takeda as Chūkō Kyocho (Xu Chu)

Mai Kadowaki as Kōmei Shokatsuryō (Zhuge Liang)

The anime will be split into to two episodes, with the first premiering on Japanese television station AT-X on December 21, and the second premiering on December 28. Screenings on Tokyo MX and BS11 are currently in the planning stages. The anime will then be released in Japan on home video on February 25.

Yui Sakakibara will perform the anime's main theme song, "Endless fighter."

Tokyopop held the license to Yuji Shiozaki's original manga in North America under the name Battle Vixens until the company closed its North American publishing branch.

Geneon Entertainment once released the first Ikkitousen anime series in North America, and Funimation then picked up the license. Media Blasters had licensed both the second Ikkitousen anime series, Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny, and the third series, Ikkitousen Great Guardians, but Funimation picked up the license for Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians.

The last entries in the franchise, Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor and Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku, debuted in 2010 and 2011. Funimation licensed Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor with Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku.
