Square Enix Game Gunslinger Stratos Gets TV Anime in 2015

April anime adapting Square Enix shooting game stars Atsushi Abe, Nana Mizuki, scenario by Gen Urobuchi

A television anime adaptation of Square Enix's gun-shooting action arcade game Gunslinger Stratos was announced during an announcement conference on Tuesday. The anime will premiere in April 2015. Gen Urobuchi (Suisei no Gargantia, Fate/Zero) will provide the original scenario for the anime, with the series titled Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation-.

The cast is reprising their roles from the original arcade game.

Shinpei Ezaki (Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You, Attack on Titan episode director) will direct the anime at A-1 Pictures with series composition by author Norimitsu Kaihō from Nitroplus, who are also helping produce the scripts. Shin'ichi Yokota (Wizard Barristers: Benmashi Cecil art setting, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG key animation) is designing the characters, and Tetsuya Kobayashi is composing the anime's soundtrack.

According to voice actor Junichi Suwabe, at least one character will die in the anime. Fellow voice actor Atsushi Abe commented that he thought maybe Aaron Burroughs would die protecting someone, and Kana Ueda agreed. The anime is described as one filled with drama, death, romance, and more.

Square Enix began service for its Gunslinger Stratos arcade game in 2012, and a sequel began service this past February. Since then, the game has received two animated promotional videos.
