Vertical Confirms Tokyo ESP Manga License

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Publisher will release manga in 2-in-1 omnibus editions

Ed Chavez, the marketing director of North American publisher Vertical Inc., confirmed on Tuesday that company licensed and will release Hajime Segawa's Tokyo ESP manga. Vertical will publish the series in two-in-one omnibus volumes, Amazon lists a tentative October 6 release date.

Segawa launched the "afterschool psychic action" series in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in 2010, shortly after ending The Enchained Spiritual Beast Ga-Rei supernatural action series. Kadokawa published the 12th compiled book volume of Tokyo ESP in October.

Anime director Shigehito Takayanagi adapted the manga into a 12-episode anime series at Xebec last year. Crunchyroll streamed the series in multiple territories as it aired in Japan and Funimation licensed the series for home video release in North America.

Funimation describes the story:

Rinka is a high school student in Tokyo trying to make ends meet while supporting herself and her father. Her ordinary life takes a turn for the extraordinary when she witnesses a penguin and a school of fish flying through the air. After catching up to one of the fish, she passes out and wakes up to find herself suddenly granted supernatural powers. With her newfound ability to walk through solid objects, Rinka is about to learn just how transparent the world can be.
