posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official website for the live-action film of Yūsei Matsui 's Assassination Classroom manga announced last month that the group Sensa-tions is performing the theme song "Koro-Sensa-tions" to the film. The song will include vocals from the voice actor of Koro-sensei (as yet unannounced).
Matsui drew a special illustration for the group, which appeared in this year's 14th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. It also unveils the performing names of the group's members: SHINOBI, Barrett, Commander, Falcon Jr., Scope, Rabbit Fire, Doctor, Geek, and Sonic Hunter.
J. Storm is releasing "Koro-Sensa-tions" as the debut single of Sensa-tions on March 18. The DVD single will include the song, its music video, and a "making-of" of the music video.
Eiichirō Hasumi (Umizaru films, Wild 7) is directing the film, and Tatsuya Kanazawa (Saru Lock The Movie, Lucky Seven) is writing the script. Filming began on site at an abandoned elementary school in the suburbs in Japan's Kanto district on August 31, and wrapped up in mid-October. The film's Twitter account began posting on-set photographs since filming started.
The previously announced cast for the film includes:
- Ryōsuke Yamada as Nagisa Shiota
- Masaki Suda as Karma Akabane
- Kippei Shiina as Tadaomi Karasuma
- Maika Yamamoto as Kaede Kayano
- Seika Taketomi as Rio Nakamura

- Miku Uehara as Manami Okuda
- Masanobu Takashima as Takaoka
- Seishirō Katō as Itona

Viz Media published the first volume of the manga in North America last December. The company describes the story:
A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he's the best teacher they've ever had!
Matsui launched Assassination Classroom in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2012, and Shueisha published the 13th volume on Wednesday, March 4. The series ranked number seven in Japan's top-selling manga for 2013, and currently has more than 11 million copies in print. The series already inspired an event anime in 2013, and also inspired a television anime series that premiered in January. Funimation is streaming the show as it airs in Japan.
