Anime to debut online on April 16 with pre-, post-streaming programs

The official website for Ninja Slayer From Animation, the anime adaptation of the Ninja Slayer novel series, announced on Friday that the rock band Boris will perform the first episode's ending theme song "Kilmister."

The website also announced the Ninja Slayer From Radio Station and Ninja Slayer From Net Television programs that will stream before and after the anime's episodes premiere. Both programs will stream every other week.

Ninja Slayer From Radio Station will be a live streaming radio program that will begin 30 minutes before the anime. The voice actors who play characters in each anime episode will participate in the program. Internet Radio Station Onsen will stream the program for two weeks starting on each episode's premiere date.

Ninja Slayer From Net Television will stream directly following the anime. Voice actresses Hiromi Igarashi (The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, Gonna be the Twin-Tail!!) and Kaede Yuasa (Gonna be the Twin-Tail!!, Persona 4 the Golden Animation) will emcee the program and discuss the anime with special guests. The program will highlight and recap each episode to help viewers unfamiliar with the story to understand the anime.

The anime series will premiere on the Japanese streaming website Nico Nico on April 16 at 11:00 p.m. JST. The series is slated to air on television in Japan in 2016.

The anime will stream in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Northern Europe, South Korea, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. (The anime's website lists some regions twice.) The platform or platforms for overseas streaming has yet to been announced.

The series will also be available online in Japan through Nico Nico Live Ginza, d Anime Store, Anime Pass, GyaO!, Hikari TV, DMM.com, the PlayStation Store, Bandai Channel, Rakuten ShowTime, and Video Market.

The cast members reprising their roles from the novels' audio drama adaptation.

King Records describes the story:

Kenji Fujikido is a salaryman whose wife and child were killed in a ninja turf war. In a brush with his own death, Fujikido is possessed by an enigmatic ninja soul known as Naraku Ninja. Fujikido cheats death and becomes "Ninja Slayer" -a Grim Reaper destined to kill evil ninja, committed to a personal war of vengeance. Set in the dystopian underworld of Neo-Saitama, Ninja Slayer takes on Soukai Syndicate ninja in mortal combat.

The story was originally posted piecemeal on Twitter by Japanese "translators" Yū Honda and Leika Sugi, allegedly translating the work of American authors "Bradley Bond and Philip Ninj@ Morzez." After the story grew in popularity, Enterbrain published the first Japanese-translated volume in print, Ninja Slayer: Neo Saitama in Flames, in September 2012. The story then inspired comic adaptations from Enterbrain and Kodansha (including Kōtarō Sekine's Ninja Slayer Kills in Shōnen Sirius), as well as an audio drama with Toshiyuki Morikawa as the title character.
