Mikako Komatsu, Hiro Shimono, Rie Murakawa star in segments featured during Oha-Suta program

The official YouTube channel for Shueisha's Ribon magazine began streaming the first episode of the short anime adaptation of Rie Ōuta's Nekota no Koto ga Ki ni Natte Shikatanai. (I'm So Interested in Nekota That I Can't Help Myself.) manga for girls on Tuesday. The episode originally aired as a segment during the children's television program Oha-Suta ("Good Morning Star") on TV Tokyo.

MIKIKO: I transfer schools all the time, and once again, starting today, I'm starting at a new school.
Teacher: OK class, I'll introduce you all to a transfer student.
MIKIKO: I'm MIKIKO Amane. Just call me "Miki."
MIKIKO: I bet I'll only be here for a year at the most.
Haruna: I'm Haruna Inui! Nice to meet you!
Girl: The girls in our class are pretty high-level, if you ask me.
Girl: But the cutest has to be Haruna!
Haruna: Huh? You really think so? I'm blushing!
Text: Chit chat! Chit chat!
Text: Hm...
Haruna: Well, she is cute, but not the level of cutest.
Text: Freeze
MIKIKO: It doesn't matter if I get liked or hated. I don't play the friend game. Even if someone tells me there's a cute guy...
Nekota: Hm? A transfer student?
MIKIKO: Whoa!! Who is that person!? Or is he a person!?
Girl: Nekota is pretty good-looking...
MIKIKO: Good-looking!? He's a cat!!
Girl: What are you talking about? He's a human!
MIKIKO: Am I the only one who sees his face as a cat!? What's going on here!?
Nekota: Oh.
MIKIKO: And our seats are right next to each other!?
Text on paper: Team form
MIKIKO: And so, we ended up playing dodge ball for my welcoming party...
Haruna: Actually, just a moment ago, Miki said this...
MIKIKO: The manga's on sale now!

The manga was adapted into a longer anime special which was shown at the Ribon Festa event in Niigata Prefecture on March 22, and in Kyoto on March 28 and 29. The anime will then be shown at the Tokyo Ribon Festa on May 2 and 3. The cast stars Mikako Komatsu (Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live, Nisekoi) as MIKIKO Amane, Hiro Shimono (Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts, Durarara!!×2 Shō) as Nekota, and Rie Murakawa (Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky, Non Non Biyori) as Haruna Inui.

The story of the manga revolves around MIKIKO Amane, an elementary-school girl who has transferred schools many times. Because of this, she stopped making friends or getting deeply involved with people, since she knew she would move again soon. She had lived her life with a cool and uninterested personality, but at her new school, she meets a boy with a cat face! She's so interested in him, she just can't help herself.

Ōuta began the manga in Shueisha's Ribon magazine in 2013. Shueisha shipped the fourth compiled volume in Japan in September.
