Bandai Namco Ent. Reveals Project X Zone 2 Game

Strategy RPG for 3DS combining Bandai Namco, Sega, CAPCOM characters ships this fall

Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed the Project X Zone 2 (Project X Zone 2: Brave New World in Japan) sequel game at the Bandai Namco Global Gamer's Day event on Sunday. The strategy role-playing game will ship for the Nintendo 3DS this fall in North America, Europe, and Japan. Similar to the first game, the sequel features characters from various Bandai Namco Entertainment, Sega, and CAPCOM franchises.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America is also streaming a trailer for the game.

The trailer confirms the following returning and new characters:

Returning characters

  • Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine (Resident Evil Revelations)
  • Yuri Lowell and Flynn Scifo (Tales of Vesperia)
  • Dante (Devil May Cry)
  • Ichiro Ogami and Erica Fontaine (Sakura Wars)
  • Jin Kazama (Tekken)
  • X and Zero (Mega Man X)
  • Akira Yūki (Virtua Fighter)
  • Kite (.hack//)

New characters

  • Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 6)
  • Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima (Yakuza: Dead Souls)
  • Vergil (Devil May Cry)
  • Kazuya Mishima (Tekken)
  • Kage Maru (Virtua Fighter)
  • Haseo (.hack//G.U.)
  • Strider Hiryu (Strider)
  • Hotsuma (Shinobi)
  • Natsu (Soul Calibur V)

The end of the trailer also shows Reiji Arisu and Xiaomu, two original characters who first debuted in Namco x CAPCOM and also appeared in the Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier game.

Monolith Software Inc. is developing the game, which will allow players to "maneuver characters into position and perform strategic attacks using different combinations in real time."

The first Project X Zone Nintendo 3DS simulation role-playing game featured more than 50 playable characters from 29 CAPCOM, Sega, and Namco Bandai Games franchises. Franchises featured in the game included Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Vampire (Darkstalkers), Street Fighter, Mega Man, Virtua Fighter, Shining Force EXA, Tales of Vesperia, Tekken, .hack, Xenosaga, Valkyria Chronicles, Sakura Wars, Space Channel 5, Dynamite Deka (Die Hard Arcade), Resonance of Fate, God Eater, and Super Robot Wars Original Generation, among others.

The game shipped in North America in June 2013 and in Europe in July 2013. The game shipped in Japan in October 2012, and Namco Bandai Games announced in January 2013 that would release the title in North America, Europe, and Australasia.
