Manga adapts last visual novel "season" from 07th Expansion

The July issue of Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine published the last chapter of writer Ryukishi07's (07th Expansion) and artist Mitsunori Zaki's Rose Guns Days Last Season manga on June 25.

The magazine also announced that Square Enix will publish the first compiled volume, as well as the final second compiled volume, on August 22.

The manga adapts the fourth and last of 07th Expansion's Rose Gun Days visual novel "seasons." Mitsunori Zaki launched the manga in Big Gangan on in April 2014.

Ryukishi07 (Higurashi: When They Cry, Umineko - When They Cry) created the original game's story which takes place in Japan after World War II. Devastated in the aftermath of defeat, the Japanese government complies with the Allies' reconstruction plan. Japan begins to recover from the loss after a few years, but America and China intricately divide control of the nation on a municipal level. The many Chinese and American immigrants make Japanese people the minority in their own land.

A girl named Rose Haibara works at the club Primavera and lends money to Japanese people so that they can rebuild their lives. Some people take advantage of that generosity. Meanwhile, Leo Shishigami is best known for his reputation among women. Everything begins to change when that legendary man meets Rose in the spring of 1947.

Artist You Omura concluded the Rose Gun Days Season 3 manga on the Gangan Online website in March 2015. The Rose Guns Days Season 2 manga by artist Nana Natsuishi ended in Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy magazine in March 2014, and Sōichirō's Rose Guns Days Season 1 manga ended in Gangan Joker in February 2014.

Artist Mei Renjōji ended her Rose Guns Days: Fukushū wa Ōgon no Kaori prequel manga in March 2015.

A separate spinoff, Rose Guns Days: Aishū no Cross Knife by artist Tsuyoshi Takagi, ran in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine and ended in 2013.
