Gonzo animates series based on adult game of girls competing in dogfight races with anti-gravity tech

The official website for the television anime adaptation of the Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm: Beyond the sky, into the firmament adult game announced on Thursday that the anime will air in winter 2016.

Gonzo is animating the series based on sprite/fairys original game. Fumitoshi Oizaki (Romeo × Juliet, Etotama, Astarotte's Toy) is directing the series, and Reiko Yoshida (Bakuman., K-ON!, Girls und Panzer) is handling the series composition

The story is set on an archipelago of four islands far south of Japan or even the South Seas. It is all but a different world from modern Japan. From the discovery of anti-gravitons came the dream invention of anti-graviton shoes ("grash") that let people fly the skies. They introduce people to a new realm by enabling flight with just one's own body strength, without feathers or engines. This led to the rise of the sport of "Flying Circus" (dogfight race).

The protagonist who once hoped for a future in this sport suffered a setback due to an overwhelming defeat, and withdrew from the sport for this and some other reason. However, he met the transfer student Haruka Kurashina, and in teaching her to fly the skies, the old passion returned. He takes part in the Flying Circus again.

The original PC game featured planner and main scenario writer Nachi Kio (The Fruit of Grisaia), as well as scenario writers Ryōichi Watanabe (Harumade, Kururu) and Ryūsuke Mutsu (Sakaagari Hurricane). Suzumori served as the game's art director and co-designed the characters with Itsuka Yūki. Elements Garden scored the soundtrack, and Mami Kawada contributed the theme song and "grand ending theme song." Kotoko contributed an insert song.

The game shipped for Windows PCs on November 28, and it is getting a PlayStation Vita port in 2016.
