The Pilot's Love Song Manga Ends Next Month

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Takeshi Kojima launched adaptation of light novel series in February 2014

The October issue of Shogakukan's Shōnen Sunday S magazine revealed on August 25 that Takeshi Kojima will end the manga adaptation of Koroku Inumura's The Pilot's Love Song (Toaru Hikūshi e no Koiuta) light novel series in the magazine's November issue on September 25. Kojima launched the manga in Shōnen Sunday S in February 2014, and Shogakukan released the third compiled book volume on June 18.

Inumura's 2009-2011 five-volume light novel series is set in the same world as Inumura's To Aru Hikūshi e no Tsuioku (Recollection of a Certain Airship Pilot/The Princess and the Pilot) novel and anime film, although it is set earlier with a different cast of characters.

The story of love and aerial combat follows a former prince who lost everything to a revolution, and a girl who became the symbol for the revolution. The orphaned prince, now renamed Kalel, embarks on a one-way journey to discover the ends of the heavens. Aboard the levitating island of Isura, he meets a girl named Claire.

The novels' 13-episode television anime adaptation premiered in January 2014. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, and NIS America will release the series on home video on September 22.
