Nobunyaga no Yabō/Samurai Cats Social Game Gets New Stage Play

The official website for the stage plays of Koei Tecmo's Nobunyaga no Yabō (Samurai Cats) smartphone and browser social game announced on Monday that it will get a new stage play titled Nobunyaga no Yabō - Yukimura to Gorin no Ken (Nobunyaga's Ambition - Yukimura and the Sword of Five Rings). The play will run at the Zenrōsai Hall/Space Zero in Tokyo from February 3 to 7.

The website also unveiled a visual for the stage play.

The play will star Yūsuke Akiba, Yūta Iiyama, Isamu Ishizaka, Mashū Ishiwatari, Katsuhiko Ibuka, Shou Tomita, Mitsu Murata, and others.

Makoto Kimura is directing the play, and Ichidai Matsuda is writing the script. Masaaki Miyamoto from ADK Arts is credited as producer, and original game producer Nobuhisa Hiroshige is supervising the production.

The game has received two previous stage play adaptations. Butai Nobunyaga no Yabō (Stage Play Nobunyaga's Ambition) ran in October 2013, and Nobunyaga no Yabō Nyan (Nobunyaga's Ambition Two or Nobunyaga's Ambition Meow) ran in November 2014.

The Nobunyaga no Yabō social game is based on Japan's Warring States period, with all the historical characters in the form of cats. Players pick an affinity to a clan and daimyo, and build up their base with limited resources, using mustered armies to fight in automated encounters. The game's Japanese title is a play on Koei Tecmo's Nobunaga no Yabō (Nobunaga's Ambition) strategy game series.

Koei Tecmo launched the game in Japan in February 2011. Mobage launched a North American beta test for the game in October 2012 with the game renamed Samurai Cats, but has since discontinued service.
