My Hero Academia Anime Reveals More Cast, April Premiere Date

The combined third and fourth issue 2016 of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that the television anime of Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) manga will premiere in April 2016. The issue is also revealing the cast for Ochako Uraraka and Tenya Iida. The show's official website had revealed the designs for the two characters on Monday.

The issue is also revealing (image via Yaraon!) the two characters' anime designs in their hero costumes, as well as the hero costume character designs for Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugō. A bundled edition of the manga's seventh volume will ship on February 4 with a drama CD. Horikoshi is writing the new story for the CD, and the anime's series composition writer Yousuke Kuroda is turning the story into the drama CD's script.

The issue is also announcing on Monday that manga will get a novel adaptation.

The anime stars Daiki Yamashita (Yowamushi Pedal's Sakamichi Onoda, Log Horizon's Tōya) as Izuku Midoriya, Kenta Miyake (Assassination Classroom's Akira Takaoka, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders' Mohammed Abdul) as All Might, and Nobuhiko Okamoto (A Certain Magical Index's Accelerator, Bakuman.'s Eiji Niizuma) as Katsuki Bakugō.

Kenji Nagasaki (Gundam Build Fighters, Classroom Crisis, No. 6) is directing the anime at the studio BONES (Blood Blockade Battlefront, Concrete Revolutio, Fullmetal Alchemist). Yousuke Kuroda (Gundam Build Fighters, Honey and Clover, Trigun) is overseeing the series' scripts. Yoshihiko Umakoshi (Air Master, Heartcatch Precure!, Berserk) is designing the characters for animation.

Horikoshi launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014, and Shueisha shipped the manga's sixth volume on November 4. Viz Media is releasing the manga in English digitally as Shueisha publishes new chapters in Japan. The company also published the second volume in print in November.

The manga inspired Hirofumi Neda's Boku no Hero Academia Smash!! manga on Shueisha's digital Shonen Jump+ app. The manga launched in November. Viz Media published a preview of the manga in English in its Weekly Shonen Jump digital manga anthology.
