Reikenzan Anime's 1st Promo Video Previews Characters

Series based on popular Chinese online fantasy novel premiered on Saturday

Studio DEEN began streaming a promotional video on Saturday for the Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage (Mt. Reiken: Stardust's Banquet or alternately, Sacred Sword Mountain: Stardust's Banquet) anime series.

The series premiered on AT-X at midnight on Saturday in Japan, and will also air on Tokyo MX TV, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and TV Aichi. The anime will also stream on d Anime Store, Gyao!, Niconico, UNEXT, Anime Hodai, and other services.

The show stars:

Tsubasa Yonaga (Yowamushi Pedal's Sangaku Manami, Free!'s Nagisa Hazuki, Chihayafuru's Tsutomu Komano) as Ōriku, a rare genius whose IQ and impudence are both unparalleled.



Yuriko Yamaguchi as Ōbu, a woman who is Ōriku's master and the fifth elder of the "Reiken" school. Her impudence and wicked tongue are on par with Ōriku's.



Daiki Kobayashi as Ōchū, who has the appearance of a girl but is definitely a boy. He is Ōriku's attendant.



Masakazu Nishida as Kaiunho, a companion of Ōriku's in terms of the pursuit of knowledge. He is the second prince of another strong country.



Kenichirou Matsuda as Iemoto, the head of the "Reiken" school. He is strongly nearsighted.



Marie Hatanaka as Ruri, Ōriku's close friend who is also a member of the "Reiken" school. She has a cute appearance but she is air-headed, a bit of an idiot, and a glutton.



Eriko Nakamura as Rei, a hostess of an inn who is keeping a secret.



Kento Itō as Shushin, the crown prince of a different country. He is Ōriku's rival.



Daichi Hayashi as Bunhō, the son of the country's religious leader. He has a timid personality



Additionally, Nako Eguchi will play Bunin (character's name reading has not yet been officially verified).

The anime is based on Guo Wang Bi Xia's (lit. His Majesty the King) popular Chinese online novel and comic titled Cong Qian You Zuo Ling Jian Shan (lit: There Was a Spiritual Sword Mountain). The online novel launched in August 2013, and Zhuhua and Junxiaomo's online comic launched in August 2014.

In the anime's story, a comet falling will bring about a great calamity, and in order to choose a child fated by the falling comet, the family of the "Reiken" clan with a long storied history is once again resuming its entrance examination process to find disciples. The protagonist Ōriku (Lu Wang in the original novel), who possesses a special soul that is only available once in a thousand years, decides to take the exam, and he starts down the path toward becoming an exceptional sage. Studio DEEN notes that the anime will be full of gags.

Iku Suzuki (Yumeiro Pâtissière, Maze, Kodocha, DearS) is directing the series at Studio DEEN. Makoto Iino (key animator for Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Oreshura, Sword Art Online) is handling the character design, and Yumiko Ishii (Samurai Harem, animation director for Samurai Champloo, Space Brothers) is the chief animation director. Additionally, Hirofune Hane (Gifū Dōdō!! Kanetsugu to Keiji) is the art director, Kazuhisa Yamabu is handling the color key, Kazuya Tanaka (Mushishi, Actually, I Am…, Flowers of Evil) is the sound director, and Half HP Studio is producing the sound. Ryo Kawasaki is composing the music.

Soraru (Danganronpa The Animation) and Mafumafu are performing the opening theme song "First End," and Niconico cover artist Kakichoco is performing the ending theme song "Kizuna" (Bonds). Mafumafu is writing and composing the opening theme song.

Chinese company Shenzhen Tencent Computer System Company Limited is producing the series alongside Studio DEEN. The companies plan to air the series simultaneously in Japan and China, and they plan to produce both Japanese-language version and a Mandarin Chinese-language version of the show.
