Rage of Bahamut: Manaria Friends Anime's Staff, Visual, April Premiere Revealed

Candy Boy's Takafumi Hoshikawa directs, oversees scripts for series at Studio Hibari

The official website for the Rage of Bahamut: Manaria Friends television anime series announced on Friday that the anime will premiere in April. The website also revealed the show's main staff and its first key visual (below). The tagline on the image reads, "An academy fantasy life that plays out on the stage of Mistarcia"

Takafumi Hoshikawa (Candy Boy, Happy Lesson) is directing the anime and overseeing the scripts at Studio Hibari. Megumi Ishihara (Fate/stay night, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works film) is serving as both character designer and chief animation director. Kenichi Kurata (High School DxD BorN, Blade Dance of the Elementalers) is serving as art director, and Takashi Watanabe (live-action Fune wo Amu, Vancouver no Asahi films, "663114" animated short) is composing the music.

The anime will adapt the "Manaria Mahō Gakuin" (Mysteria Academy in the English version) event within Cygames' Rage of Bahamut social game. The TV anime will star Yōko Hikasa as Anne, the honor student princess, and Ayaka Fukuhara as Grea, a princess born from a dragon and a human. Both voice actresses are reprising their roles from the game.

Mysteria Academy is a prestigious magic school that teaches magic without discrimination to the three factions (men, gods, demons), who usually are engaged in battle with each other. The anime will follow the two young women as students at the academy.

The original event followed Anne, Grea, as well as Hanna, the student council president who hails from the Elf tribe.

The Rage of Bahamut fantasy social card game inspired the 13-episode Rage of Bahamut Genesis TV anime series that premiered in October 2014. The staff announced in May 2015 that a second season of the anime had been green-lit. Cygames anime division employee Nobuhiro Takenaka has confirmed that Rage of Bahamut: Manaria Friends is not related to the second season of Rage of Bahamut Genesis.

Funimation streamed the first season of Rage of Bahamut Genesis as it aired.
