Crunchyroll Adds Fushigi Yugi Anime to Catalog

Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it has added the Fushigi Yugi television anime series to its catalog, as well as the Fushigi Yugi OAV (all nine episodes) and the Fushigi Yugi Eikoden video anime series. The anime are all available with an English dub and with the original Japanese audio with subtitles.

All three anime are available to Crunchyroll users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, and the Netherlands. All three anime are available now in their entirety for premium users, while only the first 26 episodes of the television anime series are available for free users. The remaining episodes and the two OVA series will be available in the coming weeks for free users.

Mayo Sakaki is a 16-year-old girl who attends Yotsubadai High School. Upon finding "The Universe of the Four Gods" in a trash bin at the park, Mayo soon discovers that the story remains incomplete. In the unfamiliar world of the book, Mayo must come to terms with her own life and the unhappiness within it.

Pioneer (later renamed Geneon Entertainment) once released the 1995-1996 Fushigi Yugi anime in North America. The anime series also spawned three OVA series, which Geneon Entertainment also released between 2000-2002. Media Blasters rereleased the TV anime series in two box sets in 2012 and 2013, and then again in one box set last year. Media Blasters rereleased the nine-episode OVA series (featuring the first two OVA series) on DVD in 2013, and also rereleased Fushigi Yugi Eikoden on DVD in 2013. Viz Media published Yuu Watase's original manga in English, and it also published the 12-volume spinoff series Fushigi Yûgi: Genbu Kaiden.

Crunchyroll also added English dubbed episodes 66-98 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal to its catalog. The series is available for Crunchyroll members worldwide except for Asia, the United States, and Italian speaking countries.

Additionally, Crunchyroll added episodes 101-104 of the Zatch Bell television anime series with an English dub on Tuesday. The series is available for users in the United States and Canada.

Crunchyroll also added Ultraman Nexus on February 10, and Ultraman Gaia on February 11. Both series are available for users worldwide outside of Asia.
