Series about 5 girls with misfortune premieres on April 7

The official website for Anne-Happy/Unhappy, the television anime adaptation of Cotoji's Unhappy Go Lucky! comedy manga, began streaming the show's first and second promotional videos on Friday.

The first promotional video previews the show's opening theme song "Punch Mind Happiness" by the five lead voice actresses (Yumiri Hanamori, Haruka Shiraishi, Kiyono Yasuno, Hibiku Yamamura, and Mayu Yoshioka). The group is performing the theme song under the unit name Happy Clover.

The second video previews Happy Clover's ending theme song "Ashita de Ii Kara" (I'll Do it Tomorrow).

The story centers around class 1-7 of Tennogofune Academy, where all the students with "bad karma" or misfortune seem to have been gathered. Hibari, a student in this class, meets the unlucky Hanako and the perennially unhealthy Botan on her first day of school, and together they try to find a way to turn their school life into a happy one.

The previously announced cast includes:

  • Yumiri Hanamori as An Hanakoizumi, whose Unhappiness Type is bad luck
  • Haruka Shiraishi as Ruri Hibarigaoka, whose Unhappiness Type is tragic love
  • Kiyono Yasuno as Botan Kumegawa, whose Unhappiness Type is bad health
  • Hibiku Yamamura as Hibiki Hagyū, whose Unhappiness Type is no sense of direction
  • Mayu Yoshioka as Ren Ekoda, whose Unhappiness Type is trouble with women
  • Yumi Hara as Kodaira-sensei, the homeroom teacher class 1-7
  • Chitose Morinaga as Timothy, the academy's rabbit-model guide robot

Shin Oonuma (Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts, , Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, WATAMOTE) is directing the anime at the studio SILVER LINK. Hitoshi Tanaka (Go! Princess Precure) is in charge of the series scripts, and Miwa Oshima (Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts, , GJ Club, Shin Koihime Musō) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director.

The anime will premiere on April 7 on AT-X, Tokyo MX, Sun TV, and KBS Kyoto. The show will also begin airing on BS Fuji on April 10.
