2 Tōken Ranbu Anime Projects Teased in Announcement Video

1st project is TV anime premiering in October

Nitroplus began streaming an announcement promotional video on Saturday for the two newly announced anime adaptations of DMM's Tōken Ranbu online browser game.

The first adaptation (pictured at left in image below) is a television anime series titled Tōken Ranbu: Hanamaru that is slated to premiere in October. Takashi Naoya (Luck & Logic co-director, Selector Infected Wixoss animation director) is directing the series at Doga Kobo. Junichirō Taniguchi (Natsuyuki Rendezvous, Prison School) is designing the characters, and Pierre Sugiura (Barakamon) is writing and overseeing the scripts. Confirmed cast members include Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Yamatonokami Yasusada and Toshiki Masuda as Kashū Kiyomitsu.

The second adaptation (pictured at right in image below) is tentatively titled Tōken Ranbu, and it will be broadcast in 2017. ufotable is producing the anime.

The two anime adaptations have also opened official websites.

The Tōken Ranbu "sword personification training game" takes famous swords from Japanese history and interprets them as bishōnen. Nitroplus designed the characters and scenario. The game launched in Japan last year, and it has more than 1.5 million registered users.
