Elex Media Licenses Hiroshi Fujimoto's Jungle Kurobe, Mira・cle 1 Manga

Indonesian publisher Elex Media Komputindo announced on Thursday that it has licensed Hiroshi Fujimoto's Jungle Kurobe and Mira・cle 1 manga. The company will release both manga on June 1.

Jungle Kurobe centers on the titular character Kurobe, a son of the chieftain of the African Pyrimi tribe. One day, mistaking a plane for a huge bird, he climbs onto the plane's landing gear and rides all the way to Japan. When he lets go, he lands in Tokyo, on the Sarari household. Nursed back to health by the family, Kurobe feels like he owes them a debt of gratitude, and uses his talent for magic to try and repay them back, to usually comedic results.

Fujimoto serialized the manga in Shogakukan's Yoiko, Yōchien, and Shōgaku Ichinensei magazines, as well as The Mainichi Shimbun's Osaka evening paper from March to December of 1973.

Mira・cle 1 begins when an earthquake occurs in a Japanese city due to the rumblings of a sentient UFO that had landed on Earth 800 years ago, arriving from 100,000 light years away. A boy named Mirai, his friend Kurumi Kurishima, and his dog Wan discover the UFO, and it borrows their bodies to turn them into a superhuman team known as Mira・cle , with the goal of facing various incidents to make Earth a better place.

Fujimoto serialized the manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Coro Coro Comics magazine in 1979. The story has a total of five chapters.

Fujimoto, whose author pseudonym is Fujiko F. Fujio, is perhaps better known as the other half of the duo that created the iconic Doraemon manga. He created the manga alongside Motoo Abiko, and they worked under the pseudonym of Fujiko Fujio. When the duo split up, Abiko took the pseudonym Fujiko Fujio (A), and Fujimoto took the pseudonym Fujiko Fujio (F), later renamed to Fujiko F. Fujio. He passed away in 1996. Shogakukan reissued both Jungle Kurobe and Mira・cle 1 manga in complete volumes as part of its "The Complete Works of Fujiko F. Fujio" line in 2010.
