Saki Mahjong Manga Gets Toki Spinoff in June

The June issue of Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine revealed on Wednesday that Ritz Kobayashi and Meki Meki will collaborate on Toki, the fifth spinoff manga of Kobayashi's Saki manga. The manga will debut in the July issue of Monthly Big Gangan on June 25. The manga will have a color opening page, and will also adorn the issue's front cover. The issue will include the first two chapters, as well as a bonus supplement.
Meki Meki (Selector Infected Wixoss -Re/verse-) is drawing the manga, while Kobayashi is credited for the original work.
The new manga will focus on Toki Onjōji, a team member of the mahjong team of Senriyama Girl's High, the strongest school in the Kansai region, and ranked #2 in Japan.
Yen Press is publishing the original Saki manga in North America, and it released the first volume on December 29. Yen Press describes the series:
Saki's never been a big fan of mahjong. A lifetime of being forced to play with family at holidays (and losing her money as a consequence...) has left a foul taste for the game in her mouth. Kobayashi's Saki manga has been running in Square Enix's Young Gangan since 2006, and Square Enix published the 15th compiled volume on March 25. Saya Kiyoshi launched Saki Biyori, the first spinoff manga, in Young Gangan in 2011. Aguri Igarashi launched the second spinoff manga Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A in Monthly Shonen Gangan in 2011, and ended it in 2013. Aguri Igarashi also debuted the third spinoff manga Shinohayu: the dawn of age in Big Gangan in 2013. Hideki Ohwada handled the fourth spinoff manga, Ritz, which debuted in Big Gangan last September, and ended in December.
Saki was adapted into a 25-episode television series in 2009, and a new television anime project titled Saki - The Nationals launched in 2014. The Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A spinoff manga also inspired a television anime in 2012.
