Ryō Ryūsei, Motoki Ochiai, more also join cast for series premiering on July 8

The official website for the live-action television series adaptation of Dōruru's Koe Koi (Voice Love) manga announced on Sunday that voice actor Takahiro Sakurai (Mr. Osomatsu's Osomatsu, Code Geass' Suzaku) will voice the character Matsubara in the show. The role will mark the first time Sakurai is performing in a domestic live-action series. The staff has not yet revealed who will physically play Matsubara, who is always seen with a paper bag on is head (pictured at right).

Ryō Ryūsei (live-action Orange's Hiroto Suwa, live-action Ouran High School Host Club's Nekozawa) will additionally play the student council president Makoto Hyūdō. Other cast members include: Motoki Ochiai, Karen Ōtomo, Tōru Sakurada, Kaho Mizutani, Shunya Shiraishi, and Yumi Morio.

They join:

Mei Nagano (live-action Rurouni Kenshin's Tsubame, Ore Monogatari!!'s Rinko, Peach Girl's Sae) as Yuiko

The series will premiere on July 8 and will air on TV Tokyo on Fridays late at night at 12:52 a.m. (effectively on Saturday mornings). Katsutoshi Hirabayashi, Akihiro Yuasa, and Tadaaki Hōrai are directing the series, and Ureha Shimada is in charge of the series organization. Reiko Obayashi, Naoyuki Miura, and others are writing the scripts. Sonoko Inoue will perform the ending theme song "Natsukoi" (Summer Love).

The romance manga is about "love that starts with a voice." The story follows the relationship that is "a little different" between high school students Yuiko and Matsubara, a boy who is also "a little different." Matsubara is a kind boy with a wonderful voice. After hearing him over the phone, Yuiko finally meets Matsubara at school and discovers that he always wears a paper bag over his head. Yuiko wonders about the mysterious boy, and their relationship begins.

Dōruru launched the manga on the Comico app in May 2015. The manga's first compiled book volume will ship in Japan on June 11, and the second compiled volume is slated to ship in August.
