1st 3 chapters of "hot-blooded youth shogi manga" to be previewed in English

Viz Media's digital magazine Weekly Shonen Jump announced on Monday that it will premiere the first chapter of Haruto Ikezawa's Mononofu manga in the next issue as part of its "Jump Start" initiative. The series will begin in Shueisha's Japanese Shonen Jump on the same day.

The "hot-blooded youth shogi manga" follows an impractical boy named Shinobu who accidentally moves into share-house for aspiring shogi (Japanese chess) professionals.

Ikezawa debuted with the kendo manga Kurogane, which ran in Shonen Jump from 2011 to 2013. Shueisha published the manga in eight compiled volumes. Shonen Jump posted the first chapter in English on its website.

Viz Media launched a "Jump Start" initiative in North America last September. Under this initiative, Viz's digital English version of Weekly Shonen Jump will run the first three chapters of "almost every single" new series that debuts in Shueisha's original Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan.
