Elex Media Licenses Inuyasha, Flame of Recca Manga

Indonesian publisher Elex Media Komputindo announced last Thursday that it has licensed Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyasha, Nobuyuku Anzai's Flame of Recca (Recca no Honō), Kazumi Ohya's Nemuri Hime Age, and Emiko Nakano's Megane no Incubus-kun manga. The company will begin releasing all four manga on August 24.

The Inuyasha manga centers on Kagome Higurashi, who falls down a magical well, and arrives in Japan's Warring States period. There, she finds out that she is a descendant of a priestess who guarded a jewel artifact that can grant any wish, and that she contains the jewel in her body. She assists and frees Inuyasha, a demon who once sought the jewel. In a later fight, the jewel is extracted from her body, shattering and scattering across all of Japan. Kagome and Inuyasha travel together to gather up the shards.

Takahashi launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 1996, and ended it in 2008. Shogakukan published 56 volumes for the series. The manga inspired a television anime that ran from 2000 to 2004, as well as a sequel television anime that portrays the manga's ending that ran from 2009 to 2010. The franchise also received four anime films.

Flame of Recca centers on Recca Hanabishi, a teenager who is obsessed with ninjas, and soon discovers that he is a descendant of an old ninja clan, which imbues him with the power to summon and control flames. He meets and pledges his services to Yanagi Sakoshita, a girl with the innate ability to heal. The Hokage, the ninja clan from which Recca is descended, used artifacts that granted or enhanced their users' powers. Recca soon becomes embroiled in a plot that involves businessman Koran Mori's bid to find the artifact that will grant him eternal life, and a mysterious flame-wielder named Kurei who is closer to Recca's destiny than even he knows.

Anzai launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 1995, and ended it in 2002. Shogakukan published 33 compiled book volumes for the series. The manga inspired a 42-episode television anime that ran from 1997 to 1998.

The Nemuri Hime Age manga centers on Ayane, a 17-year old girl who once loved to sing, but gave it up. But one night, she is contacted by producer Shiina and popular voice actor Yatori. They tell her that they had heard Ayane's voice before, and thought she was talented enough to hear. Shiina tries to get Ayane to sing again for them, but Ayane maintains her stubbornness. In the meantime, Yatori quickly gets closer to Ayane, and he makes her remember her passion for singing and what it was like to hold a mic.

Nakano launched the manga in Shogakukan's Betsucomi magazine in 1996, and ended it in 1998. Hakusensha published six compiled book volumes for the series. Shogakukan later reprinted the manga in new two-in-one compilation editions in 2005.

Megane no Incubus-kun collects the titular short manga series, along with two one-shot manga stories that Nakano published in Hakusensha's LaLa magazine in 2011. The titular short manga centers in Sawa Sawada, an optimistic high school girl. She resolves one day to confess her feelings to her upperclassman Kawakami, but while on her way to do so, she sees something that her classmate Nijōin had kept hidden, and she hasn't been able to get him out of her head ever since.

The title story is three chapters long. Aside from the main story, the manga also has the one-shot manga "Laylah Laylah" and "Thousands of Nights." Hakusensha published the book in 2012.
