Magi Manga Is Halfway Through Final Arc

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Fantasy manga entered final arc last October

Manga creator Shinobu Ohtaka revealed in a post on the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine's website on Wednesday that her Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic manga is halfway through its final arc.

The manga had entered its final arc last October.

Ohtaka's manga re-imagines characters from the classic story One Thousand and One Nights (also known as Arabian Nights). Ohtaka launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 2009, and Shogakukan published the manga's 30th compiled book volume (seen right) on July 15. Viz Media is releasing the manga in North America, and it published the 18th compiled book volume on June 14.

Aniplex USA licensed both television anime adaptations and released the series on DVD.

Yoshifumi Ōtera is also serializing the Magi: Adventure of Sinbad spinoff manga in Shogakukan's "Ura Sunday" webcomic site. The manga has been adapted into five OVAs bundled with special editions of the manga's compiled book volumes, as well as a television anime which premiered on television on April 15, and later on Netflix on July 14. Shogakukan shipped the manga's 10th compiled book volume on May 18.
