posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime will have 12 5-minute episodes

The Line social networking and instant messaging app announced in June that its Usamaru character will feature in a net anime adaptation titled Usamaru. The anime will premiere on Friday at 6:00 p.m. JST through the LINELIVE streaming service. Line previously streamed the anime's opening theme song "Usamaru no Uta" by Aimi Yano and Usamaru Ongakutai.

The anime will have 12 episodes, with five minutes per episode.

Mariko Tokunaga (Tinny - Fūsen Inu Monogatari, Doraemon: Nobita to Midori no Kyojin Den opening animation) is directing the anime at Craftar. Daiki Inaba, Yōsuke Ōmomo, Hiroshi Sakai, and Mai Matsura are credited as line directors and animators. Tomohiko Ishii and Naomasa Watanabe are credited as producers. Shōichi Furuta and Kei Mori are credited as executive producers.

Artist sakumaru created the Usamaru character, and released the first sticker of the character on Line in August 2014. The character now currently has 14 sticker sets in the app. An illustration book based on the character was released in January, and an Usamaru Pop-Up Store appeared in Loft branches nationwide in Japan.
