Shin Godzilla/Godzilla: Resurgence Film's English-Subtitled Trailer Streamed

Singaporean film distributor Encore Films began streaming an English-subtitled trailer for the Shin Godzilla film last Friday. The trailer previews the battle scenes from the film.
The film opened in Japan on July 29, and it will open in Singapore on August 25. TOHO Ad Co., Ltd is listed as the registrant on a "Godzilla-Anime.com" domain name.
As of August 1, the film has earned 1 billion yen (about US$9.89 million) and sold 710,000 tickets since its July 29 opening in Japan. The Godzilla franchise of 29 films has sold over 100 million tickets in Japan, a first for a Japanese live-action film franchise.
The film is the 29th Godzilla film by TOHO. Evangelion director Hideaki Anno and live-action Attack on Titan film director Shinji Higuchi collaborated on the film. Anno served as chief director and writer, while Higuchi directed the new film and also served as visual effects director. Mahiro Maeda (Mad Max: Fury Road, The Animatrix, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, "Kyōshinhei Tokyo ni Arawaru") worked on the image designs, and Takayuki Takeya (Kamen Rider Drive, live-action Attack on Titan) worked on the character designs based on the concepts by Maeda and Anno.
The film's main cast includes:
Hiroki Hasegawa (live-action Attack on Titan films' Shikishima, live-action Princess Jellyfish's Shū Koibuchi, pictured center in photographs above) plays Rando Yaguchi, the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary. Yutaka Takenouchi (Hoshi no Kinka, Calmi Cuori Appassionati, Nagareboshi, left) plays the Prime Minister's aide Hideki Akasaka, and Satomi Ishihara (live-action Attack on Titan's Hans/Hanji, Pokémon the Movie: Black - Victini and Reshiram's Karita, right) plays Kayoko Ann Patterson, an American agent and envoy to the President of the United States.
Executive producer Akihiro Yamauchi (Trick, Densha Otoko, Bakuman.) explained that the film's Japanese title, Shin Gojira or Shin Godzilla, signifies that it is not a "revival" or a "rebirth." While it can be translated as "New Godzilla," it can also mean "True Godzilla," "God Godzilla," and other connotations. Chief director Anno coined the title to incorporate various possible meanings.
