YU-NO Sci-Fi Visual Novel's PS4/PS Vita Remake Delayed to March 16

posted on by Egan Loo

MAGES. and 5pb. Games announced on Wednesday that the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita remake of their Kono Yo no Hate de Koi o Utau Shōjo YU-NO (YU-NO: A girl who chants love at the bound of this world.) science-fiction visual novel has been delayed from November 17 to March 16, 2017. The staff emphasized that the remake was able to pass its code of ethics inspection without issues, but the team is delaying the release to make the game's system screens easier to play and navigate through.

The "Original NEC PC-9800 Series Edition" of the remake has also been delayed from December 26 to the same date of March 16, 2017. The December 26 date is the 20th anniversary of the original game's release.

The remake was originally slated to ship on February 18, 2016, but was delayed to Spring 2016 further improve on the game's quality and to conduct the code of ethics inspection. (CERO, Japan's rating board, had not yet rated the game as of last December.) The remake was then pushed back again to November 17, before the latest delay.

MAGES former president Chiyomaru Shikura is serving as executive producer, and former Cave producer Makoto Asada is producing the project. Ryō Nagi (Ar Tonelico, Steel Chronicle) is designing the characters, and the remake credits the original creator Hiroyuki Kanno (EVE Burst Error) for the scripts. Kanno passed away in 2011, just months after YU-NO and EVE Burst Error composer Ryū Umemoto also passed away. Eri Sasaki is performing the opening theme song "Recalling" for the game.
