Eiga Sai Festival Shows In This Corner of the World, Chihayafuru, Bakuman. Films in Philippines

The Japan Foundation, Manila announced on Wednesday the films that it will screen in its Eiga Sai Japanese Film Festival this year in the Philippines. The company also revealed the schedule for the festival's Manila leg. The film festival will start on July 1, and will end on August 29, with film screenings in Manila, Baguio, Davao, Cebu, and Iloilo.
The festival will feature the Philippine premiere of the two live-action Chihayafuru films, The Anthem of the Heart anime film, the live-action Bakuman. film, and Sadako vs. Kayako. The Japan Foundation, Manila announced in May that it will screen The Anthem of the Heart at the festival.
The company will also host a screening of Sunao Katabuchi's In This Corner of the World anime film with a "special talk" on July 1. The film opens in the Philippines three days earlier on June 28.
Unlike previous years, the film festival will have paid screenings only at one venue in Manila at the Shang Cineplex Cinema 2, except for select screenings. All other Manila screening venues, including screenings at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the University of the Philippines Film Institute, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines, will have free screenings only. All films will be shown with English subtitles.
Poolside Man and Her Love Boils Bathwater will have screenings that will include a special talk by their respective directors, Hirobumi Watanabe and Ryōta Nakano.
The Japan Foundation, Manila holds the Eiga Sai Japanese Film Festival every year in celebration of Philippines-Japan Friendship Month in July.
