Yen Press to Release Gesellschaft Blume, IM: The Great Priest Imhotep Manga Digitally

Manga follow hero who gets stronger with death of companions, Egyptian priest revived in modern era

Yen Press announced on Thursday that it has licensed the GESELLSCHAFT BLUME (Yakushoku Distopiary) and IM: The Great Priest Imhotep manga for digital release. Both titles will be launch on June 27.

GESELLSCHAFT BLUME is a remake of Fumitaka Senga's web manga, which launched in February 2013. Artist Tellmin' began the remake in Square Enix's Young Magazine in August 2014, and Square Enix shipped the fifth and final compiled volume in October. Senga published no new chapters of the web manga while the remake was serializing, but resumed the webcomic in 2017, ended the series after three more chapters, and then changed the title to Gesellschaft Garden (Yakushoku Monogatari). The manga also inspired a novel, Yakushoku Distopiary ~Kōgyoku no Tōbatsushi to Inochi Kurai no Boku~, in April 2016.

The series takes place in an RPG-style world where people's positions in society are decided at birth. Tolza is a "subjugator" who is on a quest to defeat the demon king. He meets companions who join him in battle, but many of them die. As a subjugator, though, Tolza has a special ability: he gets stronger each time a companion dies.

Makoto Morishita launched IM: The Great Priest Imhotep in Square Enix's Shonen Gangan magazine in January 2015 after first publishing a one-shot. Square Enix published the seventh compiled volume on May 22.

The fantasy series begins when the Egyptian priest Imhotep wakes up in modern Japan after 3000 years.
