Grimoire of Zero, KanColle Manga End in Dengeki Maoh

This year's August issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki Maoh magazine published the final chapters of Takashi Iwasaki's Grimoire of Zero, Hiroichi's Kantai Collection -KanColle- Tomarigi no Chinjufu, and Michiru Katō's The Idolm@ster SideM Dramatic Stage manga on June 27. The magazine also announced that Kendi Oiwa's NOEL manga will end with the second compiled volume.

Iwasaki launched the manga adaptation of Kakeru Kobashiri's Zero Kara Hajimeru Mahō no Sho (Grimoire of Zero) light novels in Dengeki Maoh in 2014, and Kadokawa published the sixth and final volume on June 27. The novels also inspired the Zero Kara Hajimeru Mahō no Sho nano! spinoff manga adaptation in Dengeki Maoh in October 2015.

The original novels follow a witch named Zero who is ignorant of the world and a half-beast half-human mercenary who longs to be human. Witches who practice sorcery exist in the world, however, in this era no one knows about the art and study of witchcraft. Zero is going on a journey to search for a magical tome called "The Grimoire of Zero" that hides a power that can destroy the world. The mercenary travels with her as her guard.

An anime adaptation of the light novels premiered in Japan on April 10 and ran for 12 episodes. Amazon' Anime Strike streamed the series as it aired. The light novel series also has a smartphone game in the works.

The Kantai Collection -KanColle- Tomarigi no Chinjufu manga began in 2014. The manga starred the characters Heavy Cruisers Kumano and Suzuya. The fourth compiled volume shipped on January 27.

The manga is based off of the game Kantai Collection (KanColle), which Kadokawa Games launched the original free-to-play browser game with the service provider DMM.com in 2013. In the game, players compete with cards featuring female moe characters inspired by Japanese World War II warships such as aircraft carriers, battleships, and cruisers. Players build, organize, and repair their anthropomorphized fleet to progress through maps.

The game has inspired numerous manga adaptations, including the Kantai Collection -KanColle- Onegai! Chinjufu Meyasu Hako manga that is still ongoing in Dengeki Maoh.

An anime adaption of KanColle premiered in 2015 and Crunchyroll streamed it as it aired. Funimation released the series on home video with an English dub. An anime film opened in Japan on November 26, 2016.

Katō's The Idolm@ster SideM Dramatic Stage manga launched in September 2015. The third and final compiled volume will ship on August 22.

The main The Idolm@ster SideM game launched in July 2014, and is available for iOS and Android devices, as well as on Mobage and ChromeApps. The game has more than 1 million downloads. Like other The IDOLM@STER games, SideM is built on the concept of "idols you can produce." The app focuses on the male idols at the agency 315 Production (pronounced "Saikō Production" or "Ultimate Production"). Another app, The Idolm@ster SideM Live On St@ge, is slated for this year.

The game has an anime in the works. Sumeragi's The Idolm@ster SideM Riyuu Atte Mini! spinoff manga is still running in Dengeki Maoh.
