Publication alleges Namikawa had relationship with agency employee

Japanese publication Weekly Bunshun published an article on Wednesday, claiming to have evidence that voice actor Daisuke Namikawa has had an adulterous relationship with a female employee at his agency for many years. The 41-year-old voice actor issued a statement on his agency's website on the same day, apologizing for causing trouble with his personal affairs.

Weekly Bunshun claimed that, while Namikawa was married in 2001, he began a his relationship with the unnamed female employee in 2004, and the female employee was in her teens at the time. Weekly Bunshun quoted an alleged friend of the female employee as saying the pair met at a cabaret club and had a relationship for three years before separating, but still had lingering feelings for one another.

Namikawa left his agency in 2014, around which time Weekly Bunshun alleges he resumed relationships with the employee. Weekly Bunshun further claimed that the female employee admitted in a phone interview to having a romantic relationship with Namikawa "until recently."

Regarding the allegation, Namikawa said, "I am surprised by this situation, but going forward I will be all the more devoted in order to recover everyone's trust." Oricon News spoke to his agency, but the agency said with apologies that it could not answer questions about the situation.

Namikawa is a prolific anime, video game, and voice-over artist. His many notable anime roles includes Lupin III's Goemon Ishikawa, Hunter × Hunter's Hisoka, Haikyu!!'s Tōru Oikawa, Hetalia - Axis Powers' Italy, Fairy Tail's Jelal, and Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE's Fay.
