Action Heroine Cheer Fruits Manga Gets 4-Panel Side Story Manga

Manga adaptation of original anime launched on June 20, anime premiered on July 6

Akita Shoten's Champion Cross manga website launched a four-panel comedy manga spinoff of Azuse's manga adaptation of the original television anime anime Action Heroine Cheer Fruits on Tuesday. Like the main manga, Azuse (Valkyrie Drive Siren -Breakout-) is drawing the spinoff manga. The new manga, titled Chiafuru!! ~Cheer Fruits Nichijō-hen~, portrays the everyday lives of the four main protagonists.

Azuse launched the main manga in Akita Shoten's Young Champion Retsu magazine on June 20.

The story is set in the year 20xx during an action heroine warring states period. The action heroine trend had started with a small festival in a certain city. The project created a "local heroine fighter" themed after the local area. The action charmed the audience and led to the project gaining huge popularity. A local heroine boom took off in various locations. Each municipality began producing stage shows for the hometown heroines, and a rivalry developed between them. The heroine shows vying for popularity began to appear on a nationally popular ranking program broadcast nationwide. The action heroines aspire to earn the love of everyone from children to adults.

The anime is set the tranquil fruit-producing city of Hinano, which is behind the times in joining the action heroine bandwagon. High school senior Misaki Shirogane's aunt, who is also the prefectural governor, senses the danger in missing out and recruits Misaki. The girl begins producing action live events, and she becomes a hit as an action heroine. Hoping to revitalize the town, Misaki stands up to try to overturn the decision to close the culture hall that her grandfather helped construct.

The anime premiered in Japan on July 6. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series, and is streaming it on the HIDIVE service.

Keizou Kusakawa (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st, KanColle) is directing the anime at the studio diomedéa. Naruhisa Arakawa (Kingdom, Twin Star Exorcists) is in charge of the series scripts, and Naomi Ide (KanColle, The Lost Village) is designing the characters. Nippon Columbia is producing the music. M.A.O, Rie Murakawa, Miku Itō, Yūki Hirose, Haruka Ishida, Erii Yamazaki, Moe Toyota, Haruka Shiraishi star in the anime.
