Ookiku Furikabutte/Big Windup Manga Gets Stage Play

Baseball manga launched in 2003, inspired 2 anime seasons
This year's October issue of Kodansha's Afternoon magazine announced on Friday that Asa Higuchi's Ookiku Furikabutte (Big Windup!) manga is inspiring a stage play in February 2018. Yutaka Narui is directing and writing the script. A teaser website for the play opened.
The manga has been running in Monthly Afternoon since September of 2003, and the 27th volume (pictured at right) shipped in July 2016, and the 28th volume will ship on September 22. The manga returned from an 11-month hiatus in July.
The story inspired two television anime seasons. Funimation released the first part of the anime in North America in 2009 and Nozomi Entertainment released the second season last year.
