DARLING in the FRANXX Anime's 3rd Ad Introduces 2 Lead Characters

8 more character silhouettes revealed

The official Twitter account for Studio Trigger and A-1 Pictures' original science-fiction television anime DARLING in the FRANXX posted a third commercial, revealing new color images for the two main characters and their "Franxx," or woman-shaped robot. The male character is Code:016 or "Hiro" and the female character is Code:002 or "Zero Two." The Franxx that they pilot is named Strelizia.

The video also features text with each of the characters. For Hiro, the words include "flightless bird," "called a prodigy in the past," and "dunce pilot." For Zero Two, the phrases include "red horns," "partner killer," and "elite pilot."

The video also reveals new silhouettes of eight new characters and four new Franxx. The staff will reveal videos every week introducing new pairs of characters with their Franxx.

Earlier videos introduced silhouettes and quotations for the two main characters and basic information on Franxx.

Atsushi Nishigori (The IDOLM@STER, character designer for Gurren Lagann) is directing the series, and Toshifumi Akai (chief animation director for Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Sound of the Sky) is assistant director. Nishigori and Naotaka Hayashi (director for Girl Friend BETA, Morita-san wa Mukuchi) are in charge of series composition. Masayoshi Tanaka (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, Highschool of the Dead) is designing the characters and is chief animation director. Shigeto Koyama (Michiko & Hatchin, Ancien and the Magic Tablet) is providing the mechanical designs. Hiroyuki Imaishi (director of Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill) is supervising the action.

Studio Trigger announced the anime at its Anime Expo panel last month. A-1 Pictures' Hiroyuki Shimizu is involved with the project and appeared on stage during the panel.
