Natsume's Book of Friends Roku Anime's 2nd OVA Previewed in Video

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
2nd OVA ships with final BD/DVD for 6th season on October 25

Aniplex began streaming a promotional video on Thursday for the second OVA for Natsume Yūjin-Chō Roku, the sixth anime in the franchise based on Yuki Midorikawa's Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yūjin-Chō) manga. (Note: the linked video is region-locked to Japan.) The OVA is titled "Mugen no Kakera" (A Fragment of Fantasy).

In the OVA, Natsume and Nyanko-sensei go to a certain forest in order to return the name of a yōkai. There, they meet a high school student named Takumi, but humans are rarely able to enter this particular spirit world forest. Takumi then asks Natsume to help her find a white owl. Takumi had saved this white owl a few days earlier, and the white owl had taken off before Takumi could fix and return a red-stoned ring that had been attached to its leg. Takumi then had a dream that night where the owl beckoned her to come to the forest so she could return the ring to the owl.

The OVA will ship with the fifth and final Blu-ray Disc and DVD for the sixth season on October 25. The first OVA shipped with the fourth Blu-ray Disc and DVD on September 27. The episode is titled "Suzunaru no Kirikabu" (The Stump of the Suzunaru Tree), and Crunchyroll began streaming the episode on Sunday.

Crunchyroll has previously streamed two OVA episodes from the anime's fifth season, Natsume Yūjin-Chō Go, as well as the Natsume Yūjin-Chō: Nyanko-sensei to Hajimete no Otsukai (Nyanko-sensei & The First Errand) OVA.

The sixth season premiered on April 11, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. An anime film will open in Japan next year.
