Vertical Licenses Pop Team Epic, The Delinquent Housewife! Manga

Vertical announced during Kodansha Comics' New York Comic Con panel on Sunday that it has licensed Bkub Ōkawa's Pop Team Epic and Nemu Yoko's The Delinquent Housewife! (Futsutsu na Yome Desu ga!) manga.

The company will also release NisiOisin's Monogatari Series books Hanamonogatari and Otorimonogatari in June and August 2018, respectively. Kodansha Comics' release of the Nekomonogatari White, Nekomonogatari (Black), and Kabukimonogatari books will feature new cover art.

The Pop Team Epic manga is slated for release in fall 2018. The surreal four-panel manga centers around two 14-year-old girls, the short Popuko and the tall Pipimi.

Ōkawa launched the manga on the Manga Life Win website in 2014, and ended it in 2015. Takeshobo released the manga's first compiled book volume in print in 2015. Ōkawa launched the "second season" in February 2016, and ended it on April 30. Takeshobo released the second volume on June 7. The manga will launch its "third season" on Tuesday. The manga and its characters have since become popular not only in Japan but also overseas.

Kamikaze Douga is producing an anime adaptation of the manga. The self-described "crappy anime" will launch in January after a delay from the planned October debut.

Vertical will begin releasing The Delinquent Housewife! in fall 2018.

The manga's slapstick comedy story follow's a second-year high school student whose older brother's wife moves into the family home. The move was supposed to be only until the couple could find a new home. However, the husband suddenly goes overseas for business, leaving his wife to live with his younger brother and other family. Contrary to the student's image of the woman as an ideal housewife, his sister-in-law is completely inept at cooking and cleaning.

Nemu Yoko launched the manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine in 2015, and Shogakukan published the fourth compiled book volume in January. Her Gozen 3-ji no Muhōchitai (3 a.m. Dangerous Zone) manga received a live-action television series adaptation in 2013.
