Monster Strike the Anime: The Fading Cosmos streaming details announced

Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will stream the Onyankopon anime as it airs in Japan. In addition, Crunchyroll will stream the Chinese-animated series Evil or Live.

Crunchyroll also announced that its simulcast of Monster Strike the Anime: The Fading Cosmos will stream on Saturdays at 6:15 a.m. EDT, worldwide outside of Japan and China.

The first episode of Onyankopon is available now and new episodes will stream on Mondays at 1:05 p.m. EDT, worldwide outside of Asia.

Onyankopon is the name of a West African sky god. The anime's "Onyankopon" watched over people long ago, but one day an old woman accidentally hit Onyankopon in the head with a mallet while mashing yams. Since then, Onyankopon has been nervous about greeting people directly, and so sends subordinates to speak to them and solve their problems. In the show, Onyankopon will use Afrobeat and dance to help Japanese high school girls with problems such as dieting, love, and cramming for exams.

Sōta Sugahara (gdgd Fairies, Hi-sCool! Seha Girls) is directing the series and Takeshi Onaka (Lights of the Clione) is writing the scripts. Hikaru Suemasa is designing the characters. Music duo Makomina is serving as the chief producer for the anime and twin models Rikariko are listed as the producer.

The first episode of Evil or Live launched on Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. EDT, worldwide outside of Asia. The series premiered in Japan on October 11 at 1:41 a.m. on Tokyo MX1.

The anime is based on Li Xiaonan's comic 理想禁区, published by Tencent Comics. Crunchyroll describes the story:

In this modern society, a new kind of “illness” is striking young boys and girls. Loneliness, disbelief and outrage are pushing this generation to become more and more attached to the Internet and technology. Experts call this symptom “Net Addiction”. To prevent this, a Rehabilitation Facility has been set up to “Lead the young generation back onto the right path.” Enrolled to treat his addiction, Hibiki has no idea that this Rehabilitation Facility is nothing more than a prison. In this place escape is not permitted, how will Hibiki challenge despair in this hell?

Dong Yi is directing the anime at Emon, and Zhang Yuan and Chen Weiwen are the animation producers. Ling Zhengzhe is the art director. Shantian Gaifan and Mi Chong are the executive producers. Noemcore is performing the opening theme song "Soredemo Boku wa Ikite Iru" (I'm Still Alive).
