Crunchyroll Streams 1st 2 Episodes of IDOLiSH7 Anime, Adds More Catalog Titles

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Crunchyroll began streaming the first two episodes of the IDOLiSH7 television anime on Thursday. The episodes are available worldwide outside of Asia.

The first two episodes will also screen early at Anime NYC in the United States on November 18. The anime will premiere in January. The anime will have 17 episodes.

Crunchyroll describes the series:

A group of aspiring idols gather at Takanashi Productions and are entrusted with the company's future. The seven men who have just met represent a variety of totally different personalities. However, they each have their own charm and possess unknown potential as idols. Forming a group, they take their first step together as "IDOLiSH7." Their brilliantly shining dancing forms onstage eventually begin captivating the hearts of the people. In the glorious but sometimes harsh world of idols, they aim for the top with dreams in their hearts!

The cast members for the IDOLiSH7 and Trigger idol groups are reprising their roles from the game for the anime. Makoto Bessho (Shangri-La, Armitage: Dual-Matrix) is directing the anime at TROYCA. Ayumi Sekine (Makura no Danshi, Fate/Grand Order: First Order) is supervising the anime's scripts. Kazumi Fukagawa (Inari Kon Kon, GLASSLIP animation director) is adapting Arina Tanemura's original character designs for animation. Ei Aoki (Fate/Zero, Aldnoah.Zero) is credited as supervisor.

Bandai Namco Online made the IDOLiSH7 "dramatic rhythm action" iOS and Android game with music in collaboration with Lantis. The player assumes the role of Tsumugi Takanashi, a manager for a new idol group. She must train seven male singers — each with their own individual personalities — to turn them into the No. 1 idols. The game features full voicing of the dialogue by the cast.

Crunchyroll also announced on Thursday that it has added the following catalog titles from Funimation:

Funimation previously released all four series on home video.
