posted on by Egan Loo

The official website for the television anime of Kozue Amano's Amanchu! manga announced on Tuesday that a second television anime season, Amanchu! Advance, will premiere next April. The website's Blu-ray Disc listings for the new season list the series with 12 episodes.

The new cast members include:

Ai Yamamoto as Kokoro Misaki

Ai Kakuma as Kotori Misaki

Aya Suzaki as Kodama Kohinata

Junichi Satō (Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, Aria the Animation) is returning as chief director. Kiyoko Sayama is replacing Kenichi Kasai as director of the series at J.C. Staff, with scripts by returning Deko Akao (Yes! Precure 5, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Snow White with the Red Hair) and Hiroko Fukuda. Yōko Itō (Love Stage!!) is again designing the characters. Gontiti is composing the music, and Flying Dog is producing the music.

The Blu-ray Disc releases for the new season will begin shipping with the first volume on May 30. Each of the four volumes will bundle one chapter of an Aria collaboration manga by Amano, and the manga will be more than 100 pages long in total.

The first Amanchu! season premiered in July 2016 on AT-X, and also aired on Tokyo MX and other channels. Crunchyroll streamed the series in some territories as it aired in Japan.

Crunchyroll describes the anime:

It is spring, the season of great changes. Hikari Kohinata is an overwhelmingly cheerful and outgoing 15-year-old girl who has spent all her life in a small and beautiful seaside town on the Izu peninsula. On the first day of high school, she meets Futaba Oki, a slightly introverted girl who has just moved from Tokyo. Before she knows it, Futaba gets dragged along into Hikari's passion for scuba diving. And from there, Futaba gradually starts to come out of her shell, and learns how to take challenges and dive into the ocean of life.

The seventh and final Blu-ray Disc volume of the first anime season included an unaired episode when it shipped on March 29.
