Gundam the Origin VI: Rise of the Red Comet Anime's Subtitled Trailer Shows 1st Gundam Icons

The Gundam.info portal began streaming the second trailer for Tanjō Akai Suisei" (Rise of the Red Comet), the sixth episode of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime and the last in the anime's "Loum Arc," with Chinese (Simplified, Hong Kong, Taiwanese), English, Korean, and French subtitles on Wednesday. The trailer showcases the White Base mobile suit carrier, its (eventual) captain Bright Noa, Ryu Jose, and other well-known icons of the first Gundam anime.

Participating theaters will start selling the second batch of advance passes (with Amuro Ray's ID on a strap with a retractable reel as a bonus) on Saturday, while supplies last.

The episode will open in Japan on May 5, and will focus on the young Zeon ace Char Aznable earning his "Red Comet" nom de guerre. The episode will also focus on the beginnings of the Federation's "Project V" weapons project that will eventually birth the RX-78-2 Gundam.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin V: Clash at Loum (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin V: Loum no Kaisen), the anime's fifth episode, opened in Japan on September 2 in 35 theaters — more than double the previous four episodes' 15 theaters. The episode screened for four weeks, double the two-week screening run that each of the previous episodes had.

Gundam: The Origin manga creator Yoshikazu Yasuhiko stated in September that "there will be more" of the anime series. Yasuhiko said he wants the anime to show the One-Year War arc next, but clarified that there isn't any official word yet on whether the anime will continue after the Loum Arc ends with the sixth episode.

The anime project adapts Yasuhiko's manga of the same name, which in turn is inspired by the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime's story. Yasuhiko designed the characters in the first Gundam anime, and he serves as the chief director and storyboarder for the Gundam: The Origin anime. The manga has 10 million copies in print.
