Doreiku's Shinichi Okada Ends Inō Maze Manga

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga about people with supernatural powers solving hidden maze launched in 2016

The April issue of Square Enix's Shonen Gangan magazine revealed on Monday that writer Shinichi Okada and illustrator J-ta Yamada's Inō Maze (Supernatural Power Maze) manga will end in the magazine's next issue on April 12.

The manga's story begins in the city of Kokoro, which has recently seen a series of bizarre events, such as people going missing, spontaneously combusting, or being transformed into diamonds. The city secretly hides a maze of death, the Supernatural Power Maze, which is ruled by those who have unique abilities. The story centers on Yūhei Ninomiya, a smart and kind-hearted person who has powers of his own, as well as Saeko, a girl who recently transferred into Yūhei's school.

Okada and Yamada launched the manga in Shonen Gangan in June 2016. Square Enix published the manga's third compiled book volume last December.

Okada's Boku to 23-nin no Dorei novels inspired a manga adaptation by Hiroto Ōishi titled Dorei-ku: Boku to 23-nin no Dorei (Slave District: 23 Slaves and Me), which in turn is inspiring a television anime adaptation that will premiere on April 12. The anime will also stream on Netflix. Okada initially serialized the novels on the novel submission site Everystar. Ōishi launched the manga adaptation on Everystar in 2012, and Futabasha published the full series in 10 compiled volumes.

Yamada previously adapted Nobuaki Kanazawa's popular mobile phone novel King's Game (Ousama Game) into a manga titled King's Game: Origin. Crunchyroll published chapters of the manga.
