Gokudō Meshi, which can be translated as "Criminals' Meals," is a human comedy about five Japanese prisoners who reminisce about the most delicious meals they ever had in the past. The prisoners battle over entrees in their New Year's Day meals by telling the best stories about these meals.

The series launched in Futabasha's Manga Action anthology in 2006, and ended in 2012 with 10 compiled volumes. JManga published part of the manga in English.

The manga inspired a live-action film directed by Tetsu Maeda and starring Tasuku Nagaoka, Masanobu Katsumura, Akaji Maro, and Motoki Ochiai. The film opened in Japan in September 2011.

Tsuchiyama passed away on May 24.
