Masayoshi Ōishi composes opening song performed by female cast

The official website for the television anime of Jasmine Gyuh's Back Street Girls comedy manga began streaming two promotional videos for the anime on Wednesday. The website also announced that Masayoshi Ōishi is composing the opening theme song "Gokudolls Music," performed by the lead female cast under the group name Gokudolls Nijigumi. The song is previewed in the videos.

The two videos have the same footage but feature different narration: the "Gokudō" video features the male voices and the "Idol" video features the female voices.

The website announced on the same day that creators' guild Gesshoku Kaigi will compose music for use in the show.

The anime will premiere on BS11 on July 3 at 25:00 (effectively July 4 at 1:00 a.m.), followed by Tokyo MX at 25:40 and MBS at 27:00.

The three main characters will have different cast members for their male yakuza and female idol identities. The cast includes:

Daisuke Ono as Kentarō Yamamoto

Yuka Nukui as Airi Yamamoto

Satoshi Hino as Ryū Tachibana

Kaori Maeda as Mari Tachibana

Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kazuhiko Sugihara

Hikaru Akao as Chika Sugihara

Keiji Fujiwara as Inugane Boss/Inugane Producer

Nukui, Maeda, and Akao will also perform the anime's songs.

Chiaki Kon (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal: Season III, When They Cry - Higurashi, Junjō Romantica) is directing the series at J.C. Staff. Susumu Yamakawa (Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Dai-Ni-Maku) is writing the script. Jin Aketagawa (Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond, A Place Further Than the Universe) is sound director, and Magic Capsule is handling sound production.

The manga centers on three yakuza men who are forced by their boss, who is also a producer, to become an idol group, and the difficulties they face hiding their true selves from their fans.

The manga launched in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine in March 2015. Kodansha published the manga's 10th compiled volume on March 6. The manga has more than 450,000 copies in print.
