C3 AFA Jakarta Convention Announces Musical Guests

EGOIST, Ami Wajima, Mashiro Ayano, Megumi Nakajima, TRUE, BAND-AID slated for live concerts

Anime Festival Asia announced on Saturday that it will host singers and bands EGOIST, Ami Wajima, Mashiro Ayano, Megumi Nakajima, TRUE, and BAND-AID at its Jakarta event. All the artists will perform in a live concert.

EGOIST, a group produced by supercell composer ryo, debuted with their theme songs to the 2011 Noitamina television anime Guilty Crown. chelly performs vocals for the group. EGOIST have released eight singles and one album since their inception, all of which have charted on the top 10 of Oricon's weekly single or weekly album chart. EGOIST have provided theme songs for such anime as Psycho-Pass, The Empire of Corpses, Harmony, Genocidal Organ, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, and most recently, Fate/Apocrypha.

Wajima won the grand prix at the "Horipro x Pony Canyon Next Generation AniSong Singer Audition" in 2016. The Hokkaido native then made her professional debut at age 17 with the opening theme song to The Lost Village. She went on to perform ending theme songs for Kuromukuro and Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters. Her debut album, which shipped in Japan in February 2017, included all three songs. She suspended all of her singing activities beginning in July last year, but returned on March 31.

Ayano debuted in 2014 with her single "ideal white," which served as the opening theme song for the first season of the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works anime. She also performed the theme songs for Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation and D.Gray-man Hallow, and debuted her "NewLook" song as the first ending theme song for the Re:CREATORS television anime, which premiered last April. She debuted her first studio album, WHITE PLACE, in October 2016. Her sixth single, "starry," shipped on January 17, and the title track served as the first opening theme song for the Record of Grancrest War anime. Her seventh single, "Shōdō," shipped on May 16, and served as the second ending theme song for Record of Grancrest War.

Nakajima is best known for her breakout role of Ranka Lee after winning a nationwide singing and acting audition for the Macross Frontier anime. She also performed the theme songs for both seasons of Lagrange - The Flower of Rinne and voiced the character Grania. She played the part of Altene "Lene" in the series Busou Shinki. Nakajima also sang and acted in Basquash, Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth - The Animation, Kämpfer, Kobato., and Tamayura. She was tapped to lend her singing voice to the Vocaloid GUMI, the mascot character for Megpoid's singing synthesizer. She put her musical career on hiatus in March 2014, and returned in December 2016, performing the opening theme song for the Fuuka anime, and has since then also performed the opening theme song for the Recovery of an MMO Junkie anime.

TRUE is the stage name of singer Miho Karasawa, who debuted with her first single in 2000. Her major breakthrough came with her second single, "Way to Love," which was used as an insert song in the Love Revolution live-action series. She released eight singles from 2000 to 2004. She wrote lyrics for various artists after that, before debuting again under the stage name TRUE in 2013. Her debut single "Unisonia" under her new name was used as the opening theme song for the Buddy Complex anime. Since then, she has released a total of 11 singles under the name TRUE, and is noted for performing theme songs for such anime as Sound! Euphonium, SukaSuka, Beautiful Bones: Sakurako's Investigation, Comet Lucifer, Maria the Virgin Witch, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Hina Logic - from Luck & Logic . Her latest single, "Sincerely," was used as the opening theme song for Kyoto Animation's Violet Evergarden anime. Both the single and the anime debuted in January.

The all-girl Japanese band BAND-MAID formed in 2013. The band is notable for their performance costumes based on maid outfits from Japanese maid cafes. The band has released five albums and three singles.

AFA Jakarta 2018 is scheduled to take place at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition from August 31 to September 2. The event was previously scheduled for August 3 to 5, but the convention announced in March that it was rescheduled. The convention will be held in conjunction with the GameStart Asia event.

Anime Festival Asia will also have a Singapore event from November 30 to December 2.
