Revue Starlight Anime's BD Releases Include Unaired Shorts

Anime listed with 12 episodes premiered on Thursday; English simulcast to premiere on Saturday

The official website for the Revue Starlight anime revealed the details for the anime's Blu-ray Disc home video release in Japan on Friday. The anime will feature three home video volumes that will ship on October 24, December 26, and February 27. Each volume will ship with an eight-minute unaired episode.

The unaired episodes are titled "99.419 Saisun" (Measurements), "99.419 Tōron" (Discussion), and "99.419 Kaien" (Curtain Up).

The releases list 12 episodes for the anime.

The official YouTube channel for the Revue Starlight franchise also began streaming the anime's first episode on Friday. The video does not have subtitles.


The series premiered in Japan on Thursday. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Latin American countries, and other select territories. HIDIVE will simulcast the series, and offer an English dubcast within a few weeks of the simulcast premiere. The simulcast will be available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, U.K., Ireland, Latin America and other select territories. The first episode will premiere on Saturday.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

After receiving a mysterious invitation to audition for a coveted spot with, Starlight, a popular musical revue troupe, star-struck contestants begin honing their talents and competing against each other for a chance of a lifetime. Among the hopefuls are childhood friends, Karen and Hikari, who once promised each other that they would take the stage together. With each contender working tirelessly hard to win, it's the girls' passionate dedication to their lifelong dream that'll truly transform their performances as the curtains rise.

Tomohiro Furukawa (unit director for Yuri Kuma Arashi, Brothers Conflict) is directing the anime at Kinema Citrus. Tatsuto Higuchi (CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon, Schwarzes Marken) is in charge of the the series scripts, and Hiroyuki Saita (Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear, My mental choices are completely interfering with my school romantic comedy) is designing the characters.

The nine main characters of the anime (as voiced by their respective cast members) are singing the opening theme song "Hoshi no Dialogue" (Stellar Dialogue) and the ending theme song "Fly Me to the Star" under the unit name "Starlight Kukugumi" (Starlight Group 99).

Ateam is developing the Shōjo Kageki Revue Starlight -Re LIVE- smartphone game for the franchise. The franchise also includes a series of stage plays.
