"Virtual idol project" anime will run for 17 episodes until February

The staff of the Live Animation Heart x Algorhythm "virtual idol project" anime revealed on Thursday that the second season of the anime will premiere on October 8. The anime will stream on Nico Nico, bilibili, and Migu. A new episode will debut every Monday at 9:00 p.m. for the Chinese version, and at 9:45 p.m. for the Japanese version. The anime will run until February 2019 for 17 episodes.

The project is a joint project between NTT Docomo in Japan and Migu in China.

The first season streamed from August to October last year with eight episodes. The project is billed as the "first animated live documentary variety program." The anime streamed on Nico Nico in Japan.

KEI (Hatsune Miku) designed the two main characters pictured right. Voice actresses Minori Suzuki (Macross Delta's Freya) voiced the character Kilin (left in picture right), and Emiri Iwai (Love Live! Sunshine!!, Girlish Number) voiced the character Xi (right).

The virtual idol Kilin is a native Japanese speaker, and she loves Japanese culture. She is passionate and hates to lose. The virtual idol Xi is a native Chinese speaker, and she loves Chinese culture. She is quiet and does things at her own pace.

Minarai Diva (Diva-in-Training), an anime series animated with the MikuMikuDance software and motion-capture technology, aired in Japan in summer 2014. The staff of the project promoted the show as the first ever live anime program. The lines and songs of the characters were performed live, along with their movements through motion-capture technology.
