Castlevania's Frederator Studios co-produces series with Pokémon anime studio OLM

Frederator Studios' Cartoon Hangover YouTube channel began streaming a video on October 23 for the Bee and PuppyCat: Lazy in Space animated series. The video reveals new footage and the official logo.

Frederator Studios is co-producing the animated web series with anime studio Oriental Light and Magic (OLM). The series will be a sequel to the original American animated web series Bee and PuppyCat, and it will debut in 2019 on the VRV streaming service's Cartoon Hangover channel. The length of each episode will increase to a half hour for the new season.

OLM was previously involved with the series, but animation production is completely switching to the anime studio for the second season. OLM's Los Angeles-based subsidiary Sprite Animation Studios is also contributing to the project. Bee and PuppyCat creator Natasha Allegri (Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall, Cannon Busters) is serving as showrunner, and she moved to Tokyo to work on the series.

The original series' story centers on a young woman who is struggling to keep jobs. One day, after leaving another failed job, she encounters the strange creature PuppyCat. He transports her to another dimension, and they begin working together to help Bee make her rent payments.

The original Bee and PuppyCat series debuted in 2013, and Allegri wrote the scripts while Larry Leichliter directed. Korean animation studio Dongwoo Animation originally animated the series, and OLM became involved later.

OLM is best known for production on such anime as the various Pokémon television anime, films, and video anime, as well as the Yōkai Watch television anime and films. The studio also animated the Future Card Buddyfight, Berserk, BanG Dream!, Atom The Beginning, Inazuma Eleven, To Heart, and Utawarerumono anime, as well as the Miss Hokusai film.
