Singer Masayuki Suzuki announced on his website on Friday that he will collaborate with actress Rikka Ihara and Ikimono-gakari band leader Yoshiki Mizuno to release a new single titled "Love Dramatic feat. Ihara Rikka." The single's title song will be the opening theme song for the television anime of Aka Akasaka's Kaguya-sama: Love is War (Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunōsen) manga.

Mizuno composed the song and wrote the lyrics. The single will ship in Japan on February 27.

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11 on January 12 at 11:30 p.m. The series will also debut later that night on MBS, Chukyo TV, and TV Niigata. Aniplex of America will stream the series on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow beginning on January 12.

halca is performing the ending theme song "Sentimental Crisis."

Previously revealed cast members include:

Mamoru Hatakeyama (Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū, Record of Grancrest War, Sankarea: Undying Love) is directing the anime at A-1 Pictures. Yasuhiro Nakanishi (Shiawase Restaurant, Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 4: Loss) is supervising the series scripts. Yūko Yahiro (Diabolik Lovers, Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko) is the character designer, and is also credited as chief animation director alongside Hiroshi Yakou and Yūko Hariba.

Viz Media is publishing the manga in English, and it describes the story:

All's fair when love is war!
Two geniuses. Two brains. Two hearts. One battle. Who will confess their love first…?!
Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyūki Shirogane are two geniuses who stand atop their prestigious academy's student council, making them the elite among elite. But it's lonely at the top and each has fallen for the other. There's just one huge problem standing in the way of lovey-dovey bliss—they're both too prideful to be the first to confess their romantic feelings and thus become the “loser” in the competition of love! And so begins their daily schemes to force the other to confess first!

Akasaka began the series in Shueisha's Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015 but moved it to Young Jump in March 2016. The 12th volume shipped on December 19. The series has more than 3.5 million copies in print.
