Idols appear as haunted house characters in in episode 45 on February 24

The official website for Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File (Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat's Mystery-Solving Files), the television anime inspired by the Professor Layton game franchise, revealed on Sunday that idol group Momoiro Clover Z will have guest roles in the series. The four members of the group — Kanako Momota, Shiori Tamai, Ayaka Sasaki, and Reni Takagi — will play ghosts in the anime's episode 45, "Katrielle to Ghost Club" (Katrielle and the Ghost Club), which will air on February 24.

In the episode, the Seven Dragons member Andrea Quint (known as Liza Wight in the English version of Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy) makes a haunted house escape game called Ghost Escape.

The website also announced that the anime's opening theme song performer Kana Adachi will return as the maid character Mei in episode 43 on February 10. Adachi previously played Mei in episode 9 of the anime. Additionally, Kenyuu Horiuchi played the cat Wat Son (character name spellings not confirmed), and Kazuhiko Inoue played the dog Dondy in episode 42. The episode, titled "Meitantei Sherlock Holmes" (Detective Sherlock Holmes), aired on Sunday.

The anime premiered on April 8 and airs every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on Fuji TV and other channels.

The anime is based on Level 5's Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy game that focuses on Katrielle "Kat" Layton, daughter of Professor Hershel Layton. Like the game, the anime is set in London and follows Katrielle as she solves mysteries with her talking dog Sherl.

Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino (creative producer for Yōkai Watch, Time Bokan 24) is the creative director, and he is also credited with the original concept and series composition. Susumu Mitsunaka (Haikyu!!, Cuticle Detective Inaba) is directing the series at LIDEN FILMS (The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Terraformars). Yoko Takada (key animation for The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Dust Storm Dance, Inuyasha) is designing the characters based on Takuzō Nagano's original designs.
